In my pre-kids life, I was a school teacher by trade. When our fourth child was just a few months old, I took the first step toward a fitness career by getting my AFAA group fitness certification. For two years after, I enjoyed teaching various classes in kickboxing, abs/core, body sculpting, and dance before taking the next step to be an ACE certified personal trainer. The past five years working with InnerStrength has taught me how I can learn new things every day to help clients and only reinforced that I have found the best career and coworkers! I have enjoyed coaching our Couch to 5k program the last couple of years. Helping folks get back to running or try it for the first time is fun and exciting with each new group. Whether it be weight loss, pain relief, or overall strength gains, I have helped clients progress through individualized nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle changes. I have enjoyed training both men and women of varying ages and fitness levels. It is rewarding to help others reach their goals and see them change both mentally and physically. Pushing clients and students to do things they thought they could never do and seeing their resulting triumph are by far my favorite parts of my job!
As a child, I was at dance class many times a week. Ballet, tap, jazz, modern, acrobatics- you name it, I did it! I also played soccer and enjoyed many (21!) summers at camp riding horses, swimming, canoeing, and hiking. As an adult, I have enjoyed kickboxing, yoga, swimming, running, dance, and obstacle course races. My husband is a marathon runner and a diabetic. We have worked together over the years to tailor his diet and exercise to maintain healthy glucose levels. My husband and I are the busy (crazy?) parents to five active children ranging in ages from 14 to 2. We live active lifestyles ourselves- my husband has completed numerous half and full marathons and I did the Music City half in 2015. I have participated in many 5k races and as well as a triathlon. I picked up road biking after the triathlon and have enjoyed riding the many greenways around town. We also love to run and hike the trails of the beautiful parks here in Nashville. We try to teach our children by example and it seems to be working. Whether it is football, cross country running, basketball, softball, mixed martial arts, dance, horseback riding, or just riding bikes and playing with friends, they are always involved in something! When I am not chasing them, I like spending time with friends, cooking and trying new recipes, reading-I LOVE to read, traveling, and snuggling with my husband to watch Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, or West World on TV.
